A real live conch

Have you ever found a conch shell with the creature still living inside it?  Have you wondered what the creature looked like?

Scott and I visited the Don Cesar Beach Resort on St. Pete Beach.  While playing in the ocean, I stumbled across a shell that I dug out of the sand with my toes.  Imagine my surprise at finding such a grand prize!

The tiny claw flicked its way around the shell, attempting to get away.  Soon after the soft, brown muscular foot made its way out of the shell almost leaving the conch exposed and shell-less.  Finally out popped two eyeballs balanced on thin tentacles.  He was ready to be photographed.  I made several photographs of the ocean treasure before releasing it back into the ocean.

I was raised in Missouri where I earned my BBA in Business Management from Evangel University. After a long and cold winter, I used an atlas to blindly pick out a new city. My finger landed on Austin, Texas, so I moved there 3 months later, with Brady, my Bichon Frise. After settling in Austin, I furthered my studies in photography at The University of Texas (Hook’em Horns!) while continuing my career in public accounting. Long story short – I met my true love, Scott, a year later at a charity event, in Austin. We got married on St. Croix and now here we are on Pompano Beach. Meeting new friends, making a difference for non-profits, and helping businesses grow are my passions. So, I started the Pompano Beach Housewives in the City chapter. We are a local group of women that network online and in person at girls’ night out events, while hosting charity drives for local non-profit organizations in our community. I am also working with my sister cities, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami to start the newest South Florida Housewives in the City chapter, The Palm Beaches. Come to one or all our events. You can find the events listed in each city at Housewiveinthecity.com. World travel is my obsession and documenting our adventures with photography makes me happy. I am also a real estate and portrait photographer. I basically make people and things look pretty. Besides traveling, I enjoy spending time with our two amazing dogs, Brady the Bichon and Buddy the Golden. They are both 15 years old and are obsessed with raw carrots and broccoli. I hope you enjoy this beach life, travel, photography, and lifestyle journey with me. And remember, wherever you go, bring your own sunshine.
