Our Florida Adventure Begins

We arrived in Treasure Island!  After three days of traveling, Brady and Buddy were thrilled to spend time in their new yard.  Their days have been filled with daily walks to the dog-park on the dog beach, chasing lizards and guarding their yard.

We spent the first few days unpacking, reconnecting computers and exploring our new area.  Finding a place for everything in our tight quarters was easy for us.  With Sunset Beach across the street, we knew spending time outdoors would be the priory.

Living in a beach community has been great.  We have walked or bicycled to almost every place.  After our daily two-mile walk with the dogs, Scott has been enjoying a nice run or cycling the bike trail.  I have been cycling to a nearby yoga class after our morning walks.  We are both determined to use this time to focus on being fit.

Over the weekend we attended two Christmas Boat Parades.  The boats were amazing and the crowds loved it.  Friday night we attended St. Pete’s boat parade.  We watched while eating at the Blue Parrot where we enjoyed delicious crab cakes and coconut shrimp served with pineapple salsa and raspberry sauce.  We shared our view with a fun couple from New York.  Saturday we attended the Treasure Island boat parade.  Gators Cafe, located on the inter-coastal side, served a great tuna steak sandwich while we watched the boat parade.  We met a fun Iowa couple escaping the cold winter for a week.  At the end of each parade there is a big awards celebration.  The winning boat was the husband to my nurse at my allergist’s office.  What a coincidence!

Can you believe how great the boats looked?  So creative.

I was raised in Missouri where I earned my BBA in Business Management from Evangel University. After a long and cold winter, I used an atlas to blindly pick out a new city. My finger landed on Austin, Texas, so I moved there 3 months later, with Brady, my Bichon Frise. After settling in Austin, I furthered my studies in photography at The University of Texas (Hook’em Horns!) while continuing my career in public accounting. Long story short – I met my true love, Scott, a year later at a charity event, in Austin. We got married on St. Croix and now here we are on Pompano Beach. Meeting new friends, making a difference for non-profits, and helping businesses grow are my passions. So, I started the Pompano Beach Housewives in the City chapter. We are a local group of women that network online and in person at girls’ night out events, while hosting charity drives for local non-profit organizations in our community. I am also working with my sister cities, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami to start the newest South Florida Housewives in the City chapter, The Palm Beaches. Come to one or all our events. You can find the events listed in each city at Housewiveinthecity.com. World travel is my obsession and documenting our adventures with photography makes me happy. I am also a real estate and portrait photographer. I basically make people and things look pretty. Besides traveling, I enjoy spending time with our two amazing dogs, Brady the Bichon and Buddy the Golden. They are both 15 years old and are obsessed with raw carrots and broccoli. I hope you enjoy this beach life, travel, photography, and lifestyle journey with me. And remember, wherever you go, bring your own sunshine.
